Digi-Tool

This is my Digi-Tool Vanagon Digifant engine analysis tool; original design by Darrell Boehler. The Digi-Tool can be used to diagnose and solve a number of engine and fuel injection related problems. For detailed information on how to use your Digi-Tool and for other info and schematics refer to Darrell's Digifant Tool page.

This is my second model, the first was somewhat larger.  It is connected to the ECU via a 26 conductor ribbon cable. I soldered a short (apx. 12 inch) section from the ECU to a DB25 connector, note that there are only 25 pins on the ECU, hence the DB25. Next, there is a section of ribbon cable running from under the rear bench under the carpet to just behind the drivers seat where there is another DB25. After that, there is a section of cable running under the front carpet and exiting at the shifter with a 26 pin connector (only 25 lines used), then to the Digi-Tool via a 26 pin header connector (Light blue connector seen below).

Here it is, the green LED is power while the red LEDs are the various functions of the computer.

The bottom is quite messy, the next version will be wire wrapped.
